About the role

Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Employment: Full-Time | On-Site
Industry: Private Healthcare | Wellness & Longevity

The Opportunity

A premium, physician-led wellness and longevity centre in Cape Town is looking for an experienced, confident and highly personable Registered Nurse to join its clinical team.

The centre operates at the intersection of preventative healthcare, wellness, advanced diagnostics and personalised health optimisation, offering patients a proactive and individualised approach to their health.

We are looking for a clinically competent, hands-on nurse who can confidently take ownership of the day-to-day nursing function, work independently within established clinical protocols and deliver safe, professional and highly personalised patient care.

Practical experience in IV therapy, cannulation and phlebotomy is essential. The successful candidate must be comfortable performing these procedures independently within their professional scope of practice, recognising potential complications and escalating concerns appropriately.

Beyond clinical capability, we are looking for someone who is proactive, organised, accountable and genuinely enjoys working with people. Someone who takes pride in their work, communicates clearly and contributes positively to a collaborative healthcare environment.

This is an opportunity to become an integral part of a progressive, patient-focused practice, working closely with medical professionals and contributing to a more personalised, preventative approach to healthcare.

For a nurse who enjoys building relationships with patients, taking ownership of their work and being part of an evolving healthcare environment, this could be an exciting next step.

The Role

As the Registered Nurse, you will play a central role in the day-to-day clinical operations of the centre, working closely with the Lead Doctor, operations team and administrative staff to deliver safe, efficient and highly personalised patient care.

This is a hands-on position that combines clinical expertise, patient interaction and operational responsibility. From administering IV therapies and coordinating diagnostic testing to supporting patients throughout their healthcare journey, you will be involved in many aspects of the centre's clinical services.

You'll have the opportunity to take real ownership of the nursing function, contribute to efficient clinical processes and help maintain the high standards of care and patient experience that define the practice.

The role requires someone who enjoys both the clinical and human side of nursing. Someone who can work confidently and independently, while recognising the importance of collaboration, sound clinical judgement and appropriate medical oversight.

You will report medically to the Lead Doctor and operationally to the COO.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Patient Management

  • Conduct patient assessments, monitor vital signs and identify potential contraindications or clinical concerns.

  • Confidently perform venepuncture and phlebotomy, ensuring accurate sample collection and patient comfort.

  • Independently prepare, administer and monitor prescribed IV therapies, including peripheral IV cannulation, in accordance with approved clinical protocols.

  • Administer prescribed injections, medications and other authorised treatments within your professional scope of practice.

  • Monitor patients throughout their treatments, recognising potential complications or adverse reactions and escalating concerns appropriately.

  • Support patients throughout their clinical journey, from preparing them for consultations and procedures to providing education, aftercare guidance and follow-up support.

  • Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records, including consent documentation and patient safety reporting.

Bloodwork & Diagnostic Coordination

  • Coordinate blood sample collection, preparation, labelling and handling in accordance with pathology laboratory requirements.

  • Liaise with pathology laboratories to coordinate diagnostic testing and ensure the timely processing of samples.

  • Monitor outstanding laboratory results, ensuring they are received and recorded accurately, and flag missing, delayed or urgent results for the doctor's attention.

  • Coordinate follow-up testing and patient appointments as directed by the Lead Doctor, ensuring clinical findings requiring medical interpretation are appropriately escalated.

Clinical Operations & Practice Management

  • Take ownership of the daily organisation, preparation and readiness of treatment rooms and clinical areas.

  • Maintain high standards of infection prevention, hygiene, sterilisation, clinical waste management and patient safety.

  • Perform routine emergency-equipment checks and maintain appropriate medication storage and cold-chain procedures.

  • Manage clinical stock and consumables, including monitoring supplies, conducting expiry checks and identifying replenishment requirements.

  • Ensure accurate recording of treatments, medications and consumables to support clinical documentation and patient billing.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of efficient clinical processes and a well-organised practice environment.

Coordination, Communication & Teamwork

  • Work closely with the Lead Doctor, operations team and administrative staff to ensure smooth coordination of patient care and treatment plans.

  • Support the organisation of clinical appointments, treatment schedules and patient follow-ups.

  • Communicate proactively, identifying potential scheduling conflicts, operational concerns or clinical issues before they affect patient care.

  • Provide clear and accurate handovers between clinical, operational and administrative teams.

  • Take initiative in managing day-to-day nursing responsibilities while recognising when medical guidance or escalation is required.

  • Help create a warm, professional and reassuring environment where patients feel genuinely cared for.

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Registered Nurse with current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).

  • Demonstrable hands-on experience in IV therapy, IV cannulation and venepuncture/phlebotomy, with the competence and confidence to perform these procedures independently.

  • Proven ability to prepare, administer and monitor prescribed intravenous treatments safely, within professional scope and approved clinical protocols.

  • Sound clinical judgement, including patient assessment, recognising complications and escalating concerns appropriately.

  • Ability to take ownership of the day-to-day nursing function without requiring constant direction, while working under appropriate medical oversight.

  • Strong understanding of infection prevention, medication safety, patient monitoring and clinical procedures.

  • Experience maintaining accurate clinical records and coordinating patient care.

  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage clinical and operational responsibilities proactively.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional and patient-focused approach.

  • Ability to work effectively with medical, operational and administrative colleagues.

This is not an entry-level nursing position. We are looking for someone with practical clinical experience who can confidently manage IV treatments, blood collection and routine nursing responsibilities from the outset.

Advantageous Experience

The following would be beneficial but are not essential:

  • Previous experience in a private medical practice, outpatient clinic or similar healthcare environment.

  • Experience in wellness, longevity, integrative or preventative healthcare.

  • Experience with IV nutrient infusions or NAD+ therapy.

  • Experience coordinating diagnostic blood testing, pathology results and patient follow-ups.

  • Familiarity with medical stock management, dispensary organisation and cold-chain procedures.

  • Experience in executive, concierge or premium healthcare.

  • Additional training in phlebotomy, IV therapy or cannulation.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Personality Matters

Clinical competence and patient safety are our first priorities, but personality and team fit are equally important to the experience we want to deliver.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Warm, bubbly and engaging – someone who genuinely enjoys people, builds relationships naturally and makes patients feel comfortable, welcome and cared for.

  • Confident and self-sufficient – comfortable taking ownership of their responsibilities and making sound decisions within their professional scope.

  • Proactive and organised – anticipates what needs to be done, takes initiative and enjoys keeping things running smoothly.

  • Calm under pressure – maintains professionalism, composure and good judgement, even when things get busy.

  • Detail-oriented and conscientious – takes pride in clinical accuracy, patient safety and delivering consistently high standards.

  • A genuine team player – communicates openly, supports colleagues and enjoys working alongside doctors, operations and administration.

  • Reliable and accountable – takes responsibility, follows through and can be trusted to manage their work.

  • Adaptable and open-minded – comfortable with the systems, protocols and approach of a modern healthcare practice.

  • Genuinely interested in wellness – appreciates preventative healthcare and helping patients improve their long-term health.

Above all, we're looking for someone who brings both clinical confidence and genuine warmth. Someone who takes their responsibilities seriously but also brings positive energy, personality and a human touch to every patient interaction.

Employment & Working Hours

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Cape Town.

The role will follow a regular working schedule, with the final weekly hours and roster to be confirmed.

The final working hours and any additional cover arrangements will be agreed before appointment.
